Today’s adorable couple Nicky and Flavius chose to celebrate their nuptials with a big Washington barn wedding, roping in their friends and family to help with the decor. “With everyone’s help, everything turned out so perfect and we are so thankful for all the help everyone offered to make our day so special and memorable.” And the results captured by Erick McVey, well just to die for….
Nicky found the perfect chic and simple lace dress from Jim Hjelm, teaming it with a wide ecru sash. Jewellery was minimal to ensure the pretty jewel hairpiece was the focus.
Nicky let her bridesmaids pick their own cream or nude colour dresses, keeping the rest of the styling relaxed by asking them to all wear their hair loose.
Bride Nicky explains their choice of Washington barn wedding location “For some reason Flav and I both have always been attracted to old barns… the architectural details, the purity, and how a building like this just speaks for itself, but we never really knew we would get married at a barn until we went and toured Red Barn Studios.” The wood panel walls, vaulted ceiling and myriad of windows make it such a beautiful space for a wedding, don’t you think?
Given the beauty of the barn venue itself, Nicky and Flavius wanted to keep the decor details minimal “We wanted the details that we included to seem as if those they belonged, and for everything to look cohesive and natural.” The cream colour choice is perfect married with the wood and I love the use of succulents instead of flowers.
And all those DIY projects well they included barrel bar, signage, reclaimed wood boxes for centrepieces and these awesome moss F and N letters amongst many others.
In keeping with the understated chic feel of the day Groom Flavius wore a black, slim fit Ralph Lauren suit with bow tie.
