Today’s colour code is a Vegas wedding theme inspired by my trip last weekend to that city of bright lights and 24hr fun.  The last time Mr Bijou and I were there we got engaged (in Red Rock Canyon if you know it) and needless to say we acted like excitable newlyweds this time round.  We managed to cram a lot into one weekend which is mainly thanks to the fantastic concierge at HRH Tower, Hard Rock (  And I even spied a group wedding taking place at the Pop Up Wedding Chapel at The Metropolitan (!

With so much love in the air it made me think about the Vegas wedding theme essentials, whether you tie the knot there or closer to home.

1.  A city famed for its gambling means no Vegas wedding theme is complete without playing card, dice or slot machine accents.  These mini wedding gum ball dispensers would be a quirky twist on the usual spades, clubs and hearts shaped favours.

2.  The strip is illuminated by giant signs so hire light up letters or hearts to add a glow to your wedding reception.

3.  I couldn’t escape cocktails, everywhere sells them and I mean everywhere.  I wasn’t brave enough for the neck tied giant glasses but had my fair share of delectable tipples.  Invent your own signature concoctions to serve during your wedding cocktail hour.

4.  Elvis – the King of Las Vegas even after death.  Add a dash of ‘Viva Las Vegas’ to your wedding playlist or for a bolder statement have him conduct the ceremony.

5.  Finally the ultimate cruise vehicle, the vintage Cadillac is the wedding car of choice.  And don’t forget those sunglasses to protect your eyes and hide a hangover!
