Last night was the fashion industry’s equivalent of the Oscars, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala Ball (quite the mouthful) and it was a night dedicated to the late and great Lee McQueen. As you know from my many posts I will forever be in awe of his talent and creativity. Some of my favourite fashion pin ups sported a selection of his best gown wonders and as you can see from the designs, his craftmanship is timeless. There is so much to inspire fashion forward brides to be, so let’s get to it…
The one and only Daphne Guinness – my style icon
Fashion’s indie model queen Karen Elson
Forever fashion Sarah Jessica Parker
Those that didn’t opt for McQueen can still inspire your wedding day look from trains to hairstyles, check out the best of the rest…
Black and nude combinations ruled the red carpet – Diane Kruger in Jason Wu (remember he was one of my hot tips for this year!), Beyonce in Emilio Pucci, Rihanna in Stella McCartney (loving the plaits but the shoes don’t work) and Christina Ricci in a breathtaking Zac Posen gown.
There was also a lot of wedding worthy white sported by the likes of Sarah Burton (in Sarah Burton), Nicole Richie in Jason Wu and Florence Welch in Yves Saint Laurent.
Finally a special shout out to a pregnant Kate Hudson who stole the limelight in Stella McCartney (love the hairstyle) and also wearing Stella McCartney a demure Madonna, what a relief to see her looking gorgeous rather then ghastly.
