REAL BIJOU BRIDE – LUCY’S SHABBY CHIC WEDDING
“I suppose an overused term is ‘shabby chic’ but it probably sums it up quite well. Everything from the cars (an old VW Campervan for me and a gorgeous Austin Healey convertible for the Groom) to the guest photo booth was ‘vintage-d up’!” Today’s wedding of this fun loving and adorable pair is all kinds of delicious and captured magically by Shick Pics Photography.
Our bride explains “The location was perfect… a 5 minute drive away from where we live but with a high risk strategy of having the wedding on top of a large hill overlooking 3 beautiful lakes, completely outside save for a small wooden pagoda! Fortunately the weather was incredible and it turned out perfectly!!” Didn’t it just.
In her own words, “I love vintage” and this bride had her heart set on a tea length, twirl worthy wedding dress. Lucy scouted out Cutting Edge Brides in Bexley, London who specialise in the 1950’s and 1960’s inspired styles she was after. I think Lucy found the perfect dance floor worthy gown, don’t you?
Lucy’s Make Up Artist and Hair Stylist, Hayley kept the look soft and romantic with pale pink lips and loose curls.
In keeping with the shabby chic wedding theme, simple hydrangea bouquets were tied with rustic jute string.
Describing the style of the decor, Lucy says it was “a mixture of Alice in Wonderland meets Midsummer Night’s Dream with a little bit of music thrown in for good measure!” With the help of friends and family, Lucy and Jamie DIY-ed a lot of the wedding decor elements such as the favours and photobooth you’ll see below. Hydrangeas are one of my favourite plants and they look so fabulous in these pastel coloured vintage milk jugs.
Lucy’s mother and sister provided a helping hand in making this fun cake pop accessorised wedding cake. The bride even made the cute cake toppers.
“Vintage elements and music were themes that ran all the way through the wedding”so for Lucy and Jamie’s entertainment, well this had to be the ultimate DIY. The groom’s band played to the pumped up wedding party and the bride even took her turn as lead singer!
WORDS OF WISDOM
Some wise words for you brides-to-be from lovely Lucy – “Don’t let the little things get you down, it will always work out in the end. Everyone says it, but enjoy your day – you’ve put so much work into it and it will go by in a flash. Remember what the day is for, and don’t let the stress override the magnificence of your one and only wedding day.”
