THURSDAY THREADS – SARAH JASSIR

Thursday June 16 2011.

by

Hello Bijou ladies, it’s Thursday, so it’s Thursday Threads with another hot bridal wear designer to introduce you to Sarah Jassir.  Sarah is a bridal fashion thoroughbred having worked for the likes of Vera Wang, Amsale and Valentino but with a dream of creating “bold, beautiful and confident” brides with her own unique designs.  The Sarah Jassir Spring 2012 collection is titled ‘Desire’, I couldn’t think of a better title because once you see them you will do just that!  It is a wedding dress collection full of rich, sensual fabrics and daring shapes, see for yourself below with my favourites picked from their recent catwalk showcase.

SHEER COVERAGE

As I reported in my Bridal Trends 2012 report sheer coverage in lace and chiffon for arms would be big and Sarah Jassir provides some fashion forward solutions in beautiful delicate fabrics.  On the left ‘Breathless’ with a sheer cape over a luxe silk dress.  The gown’s lace pattern designed flatter and emphasise the ideal female hourglass form.  On the right is the ‘Serene’ gown with its shoulderless lace cape detail bringing a sexy Sicilian feel.

The ‘Aspire’ gown of batwing tulle over simple short bandeau dress is most suited to Bijou brides who prefer modern simplicity, although I would work it with a structured headpiece and stacked platform heels.

COUTURE CUTS

As I know you’ve all studied my trend and celebrity red carpet reports in depth, you can acknowledge that these blush tones will be big in 2012.  ‘Romance’ on the left channels the iconic Carrie Bradshaw Vivienne Westwood wedding dress with it’s pointed, plunging neckline and multi-layered skirt.  ‘Amour’ on the right is awash with beautiful details that rather cleverly do not over power the gown.  Can you spot the tulle ruffle, heavy embellishment, ribbon belt and damask pattern in the silk?

BACK DETAILS

The ‘Charm’ gown (on the left) takes us back to the glitz and glamour of the 1930’s with it’s vintage pearl necklace back.  On the right is ‘Swoon’ following 2012’s transparent train trend with it’s own twist.  The unique one sided train would be amazing on a glamourous Bijou beach bride, blowing elegantly in the sea breeze as you exchange vows.  Swoon indeed!
