Yes I know that the Richard Nicoll for Topshop Bridal collection was announced an age ago but to be honest the official press shots just weren’t all that.
I know minimalism can be fashionable but to me the dark background and ugly shoes just seem a little depressing and trashy. I guess they just didn’t float my Bridal boat. That was until Dazed & Confused put their spin on things with an exclusive shoot styled by Nell Kalonji and captured by Alex Sainsbury.
The ‘Tie the Knot’ collection clashes pretty pastel sheer fabrics with rock and roll edge – no big skirts, no frou frou and strictly no white. I love how Nell Kalonji managed to kept the modernist designer style by teaming the Wedding dresses with minimal props – ribbon, balloons, corsage – yet added romance and prettiness with the pink, almost 60’s style, patterned backdrop.
The thing is with the non-white colour code and affordable prices ranging from £75 to a maximum £350, the ‘Wedding’ dresses are not just the reserve of Brides. As of today the Richard Nicoll for Topshop Bridal collection is available in U.S. flagship stores in New York, Las Vegas and Chicago whilst still stocked at the London Oxford Circus store – no word on it being available online yet though. Come on Topshop!
