Sunday March 18 2012.

I have a frightfully sweet tooth, aroused mainly by cake craftsmanship which my hips aren’t thanking me for.  Well Harry Parr, one half of gastronomic virtuosos Bompas & Parr, has the answer “Wedding cakes can be brutally stodgy. Blowing the cake up spares the stomach after a heavy meal is a good way to wake guests up for the speeches!”  Yes you heard me right… BLOW IT UP it’s an exploding Wedding cake!

Bompas & Parr are launching a unique food explosion service for Weddings which I had to share with you this Sunday.  For a fee a trained Explosives Technician (rock and roll baby!) will lay charges within your Wedding cake to be detonated at the climax of the evening’s festivities.  Ka-Boom.

Don’t worry about the law, these technical wizards know how to risk assess, rig and supervise.  Leaving you to sit back and enjoy the surprise event with your guests, just imagine their faces.  Check out these awesome images captured by photographer Ryan Hopkinson of what happens when you mix explosives with Jelly.
