I squealed with excitement when this incredibly kooky wedding dropped into my email inbox and I just know you will too when you scroll through the beautiful photos from Petticoat Pictures.

At its heart it is quintessentially Bijou with a bride and groom determined to create a wedding day that was a true expression of their personalities.  Plus I am thrilled to be the first blog to feature the talented collective Petticoat Pictures, which surely warrants a second squeal of excitement!

Petticoat Pictures – Carlos, Cat and Andy – met whilst studying at the University of the Arts, London and now work together putting the ‘cool’ back into wedding photography with their unique and nostalgic editorial style.  The Petticoat Pictures motto is “Modern Wedding Photography with a Vintage Twist” and this ‘Wedstock’ wedding is certainly the embodiment of that.

Bride Jess “was inspired by our love of camping, the chilled out feeling of lazing around on haybales and our huge love of the outdoors and flowers!”  Swoon.

If the bride looks familiar it’s because she is one half of the Tilli twins from BBC’s The Restaurant.  For Jess “It was always important for my dress to be different from the norm! I just couldn’t see myself in a big white dress”  I am thrilled that more brides are looking for unique styles but sadly it does not make the hunt for ‘the dress’ any easier.  Jess offers Etsy as her shopping tip “..when I spotted the blue and orange sensation I knew it was the one! My mum was amazing at altering it to fit- even adding two frills on the bottom!

A unique gown requires a unique headdress and Jess chose to elaborate on the floral pattern of her dress and accessorise it with an enormous flower garland headband.

How amazing are these cute as a button bridesmaids!  Jess explains “My gorgeous Mummy also made all my 60’s inspired bridesmaids dresses- then we teamed them with M&S sun hats and vintage gloves and Primark shoes for the perfect chilled out summer 60’s bridemaids!”  They look like they had a ball and who wouldn’t in such a fun and kooky bridesmaid’s outfit.

Of course the groom had to add a dash vintage to his attire with a floral print shirt and beautiful pocket watch.

Take heed of this one of kind bride’s wise words “Don’t just follow the mags- do what you want to do and mix and match pieces from new to vintage…its your day so make it exactly how you want it! I LOVED every second of our wedding and wouldn’t change a thing- even the rain!”

Congratulations you beautifully eccentric pair.
