Today’s crush of the week is Winter’s hottest trend ‘Opulence’ so well encapsulated by the Dolce and Gabbana boys. Their Fall 2012 collection was a tribute to Sicily, it’s rich history, Catholicism and artistic romance channelled into exquisitely ornate designs. This particularly Bridal worthy look has all the hallmarks of the ‘Opulence’ trend – decadent fabrics, delicate embroidery, oversized ornate jewellery accompaniments and a centre parted do.
Stefano Gabbana likened the models to “something between princesses and virgins” a description apt for both Bridal fashion too.
WEAR IT WITH
A simple colour palette of white, black and gold is key to nailing this look. Elaborate gold jewellery suitably accessorise a simple hairstyle and I think these Topshop doorknocker earrings are a complete steal. The accompanying shoes by Jeffrey Campbell are similarly OTT with their pony tail heels. And rather than a bouquet why not carry this Lulu Guinness fan clutch to stash your radiance making YSL compact.
With it’s religious overtones Florence and the Machine’s ‘Ceremonials’ album provides the soundtrack to this Opulent look. The track I’ve chosen for our Dolce and Gabbana crush of the week is ‘Never Let Me Go’ lay back and take in all its orchestral beauty.
