Remember last week’s little sneak peek… well here we get to share in the rest of Brooke and Alex’s stunning DIY Australian Wedding that they describe as a ‘rustic, home spun wedding in the hills’.
This lovely pair tied the knot at Chateau Wyuna, Mount Evelyn in Victoria, Australia – this place is so picture perfect. The 100yr old litte White Chapel wouldn’t look out of place in Little House on the Prairie! Brooke explains that “I have always wanted to get married in the mountains and this was the first venue that we looked at and fell in love with.“
These two are so in love Brooke explained that the most memorable part of the day for her was “walking down the aisle and trying not to lose it altogether, just staring into each others eyes for the whole ceremony and forgetting that the chapel was full of people.” Brooke walked down the aisle to ‘Kissing You’ by Des’Ree, one song that never fails to raise a lump in my throat every time I hear it – no wonder Brooke found it difficult to hold it together!
And for Husband Alex the most memorable part of the day was “when I had to go home to pick up the button holes before the ceremony, where Brooke and all the ladies were getting ready. She was in another room hiding from me but I heard her say ‘baby’ and my heart stopped. Just to hear her voice calmed me. We said a few words to each other through the wall it was unexpected and so reassuring.“
Brooke teamed her lacy embellished Henry Roth gown with simple veil and oversized silver flower necklace. A key tip for bride’s, don’t be afraid of working costume jewellery into your look, it can enhance your Wedding gown rather than detract from it.
Brooke and Alex made sure everything to do with their DIY Australian Wedding day was personalised, even the flower bouquets had hidden charms.
And a girl after my own sparkle obsessed heart had to top her evening look with a glittery cover up.
Brooke, with some assistance from her mother, made this elegant black bridesmaid dresses featuring different necklines to suit her favourite girls. And found her flower girls cute grey chiffon dress from Posh Garden via Etsy.
The flower girl’s matching tulle, flower and feather hair clip is just super cute.
As mentioned last week this crafty pair DIY-ed a lot of their Wedding day decor to fit their home spun theme. I find it incredible when Bride’s are so dedicated to crafting items for their Wedding day, I am in awe of you girls. Some of my favourite elements from Brooke and Alex’s DIY Australian Wedding include this cute luggage tag table plan.
And the Love Song Compilation CD favours, music lovers like myself will adore this.
WORDS OF WISDOM
Brooke advises all the other Bijou brides out there to “get everything done 2 weeks prior to the Wedding. I mean everything, so then you can enjoy the days leading up the Wedding. I think those days are just as special as the Wedding day itself. Itis filled with so much excitement and love.“
CONGRATULATIONS my darling lovebirds I am so privileged to have been able to share this with the Bijou brides out there. You have rocked my world and I hope your married life is full of creativity and lashings of LOVE.
