I love this yuletide season, not just for the Christmas jumpers and Snowballs but also for the anticipation of what the new year will bring. In the wedding world this is the promise of new inspirations, trends and bridal wear designers. One of those new design houses is Delada, the fashion baby of former contemporary art gallery owner Lada Komarova.
Lada’s fashion designs are clearly influenced by the arts in shape, form and detail. The debut Spring/Summer 2012 Delada collection includes a small selection of bridal pieces that are at once subtle in design and seductive in form. Designer Lada drew inspiration for the collection from the Surrealist art movement and in particular Salvador Dali.
The Madonna Lilly dress made from a bias cut, cosmic latte crepe de chine features an intricate laser cut pattern to the front that is in itself a piece of art.
The Royal Lilly constructed from bias cut pearl silk, reminds me of the sea with its beautiful frill back and wrap skirt.
And the short but sweet version.
If art is your passion, you could only team these avant garde wedding dresses with similarly creative accessories. How about these Alexander McQueen sandals with a heel that seems to be melting, Dali would love them!
Or this Gijs Bakker titanium bracelet designed for the V & A.
Keep your eye on the official Delada site for developments in the new year
