It was one of the most talked about fashion shows of the year when Karl Lagerfeld presented his pre-fall collection at Linlithgow Palace. A flurry of snow white super luxe knits and ruffles with bold jewels. I had a fashionista drool over this particular ensemble from the Chanel Scotland Metiers D’Art show, totally bridal worthy.
WEAR IT WITH
The story behind the Scottish location… Coco Chanel was often found in Scotland during the 1920’s with her lover, the Duke of Westminster. Karl Lagerfeld sort to include Scottish heritage elements into his pre-fall designs with luxe knits as seen above crafted by the iconic Scottish cashmere brand Barrie Knitwear. “It’s the idea of Scotland, the mix of Coco Chanel and Mary Stuart – two queens of fashion” said Mr Lagerfeld. So for my Bijou ‘Wear It With’ I’ve brought in a Highland fashion Fling with hidden tartan elements like this garter or these lace up boots. If you want to add a nod to Scottish heritage why not incorporate thistles into your bouquet, their spikey appearance will add edge to your Wedding look. And finally if you are one of those lucky girls with beautiful red locks, like Doctor Who star Karen Gillan, wear it loose with a few wavy tendrils falling around your face.
With a bridal look this unique I can just hear a groom saying ‘I’ve never met a girl like you before’. Edinburgh born Edwyn Collins’ moody hit would be the most fitting soundtrack to this ensemble from the Chanel Scotland Metiers D’Art show.
