Happy Friday B2Bs.
Continuing the wedding trends for 2011 posts, today I’m very lucky to have Award Winning Make-Up artist Sarah Brock (who Vogue recommend as the ‘go-to’ for bridal make up) sharing her beauty industry knowledge and top tips for 2011.
Key Bridal Make Up Trends in 2011
Sarah advises that there are 4 key bridal make up trends you will be coveting this year:
1) Vintage/ hollywood glamour (as seen at Jenny Packham)
2) Smokey eyes in pastel tones (as seen at David Fielden)
3) Strong lips (as seen at Carolina Herrera)
4) Natural, flawless makeup (as seen at Vera Wang & Phillip Lepley)
As a special Bijou treat, Sarah kindly offered to give us a step-by-step guide to creating my two favourite looks Vintage/Hollywood Glamour and Natural/Flawless Chic.
Bridal Make Up Trends – Vintage/Hollywood Glamour Bride
Step 1 – Skin: Prime skin and cover any imperfections with a wonder concealer such as Hide It Under Eye Concealer/ Camo Cover Concealer by Daniel Sandler and apply foundation (preferably with a foundation brush).
Step 2 – Cheeks: Apply Matt Blusher with a brush in shades of Rose or Blush Pink
Step 3 – Eyes: Apply a neutral base shadow lash to brow, then add dark Matte shadow in the contour using a Smudger Brush. Open the eye by highlighting along brow bone. Next add liquid eyeliner across the top lash line (apply with a Lip Brush for smooth lines). Finally curl lashes and add heaps of mascara (apply falsies for exaggerated eyes – Sarah recommends lashes by Mister Mascara)
Step 4 – Lips: After mositurising and lining lips apply a rose shade lipstick such as Pucker by Daniel Sandler.
Bridal Make Up Trends – Natural/Flawless Bride
Sarah who created this beautiful look for Phillipa Lepley’s Spring/Summer 2011 campaign (image below http://www.phillipalepley.com/), advises that a natural look really does start with flawless skin “so good skincare in preparation for your wedding day is essential.”
Step 1 – Skin: Primer is key and Sarah uses Daniel Sandler Re-texturising Primer. Follow with a luminating foundation such as Chanel Pro-Lumiere and cover any flaws with concealer. Finally add powder.
Step 2 – Cheeks: Use a very pale pink blusher.
Step 3 – Eyes: Apply opal shades all over and add shimmering taupe over lid. Curl lashes and apply black mascara.
Step 4 – Lips: Avoid lip gloss, use the Daniel Sandler Luxury Lipstick in Pucker and pat on to the lips with your finger.

Words of Wisdom
And finally Sarah’s top tip for brides, “If you are applying your own wedding day makeup, have a lesson with a professional makeup artist, as wedding makeup is so different to every day makeup! Practice several times beforehand and on the big day allow 1 hour for makeup – after hair and before you put your dress on. During this hour, send the rest of your bridal party off to get dressed and ready, so you have peace and quiet (which will help keep you calm) and plenty of time to make yourself look totally gorgeous!”
