Boardwalk Empire the hottest thing to hit our screens since Mad Men, looks set to be just as influential for fashion and wedding styling 2011/2012 (remember the Bijou posts from London and Paris Fashion Weeks?).  Set in the 1920’s prohibition era America, a time when bias cut silk, flapper dresses, long necklaces and cloche style veils were all the rage.  The style icons of the day were the silent movie actresses and it girls – Louise Brooks, Clara Bow and Mary Pickford.

America’s sweetheart Mary Pickford, the good girl alternative to flapper floosies as they were seen by  the more mediocre.

However their lavish costumes and styles weren’t feasible for the general public, the traditional 1920’s bride and her wedding party would have                                                                                                                    looked like the below.
