Hello girls I wanted to share my Bijou beauty finds of 2011 whilst there is still time for them to make it into your Christmas stocking.
New Kid on the Block – BB Cream
BB Cream was by far the breakthrough product of the year. A cosmetic/ skin care hybrid, Blemish Balm (the BB bit), promises to provide sheer flawless coverage, hydrate skin, cover blemishes, protect against sun damage and make skin more luminous. Expect a flurry of BB creams onto the market next year but the best of this year was Garnier’s Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All One BB Cream, quite the mouthful I know. I can honestly say it is the first time I’ve felt that I do not need to plaster my face with foundation, although it also makes a great primer. More importantly it’s inexpensive and a little goes a long way, sadly Garnier only seem to have created one shade!
Cleansing Classic – Shu Uemura Cleansing Beauty Oil
I cannot sing the praises of Shu Uemura’s Cleansing Oils enough, this is the only cleanser I have found that doesn’t feel like it’s stripping my skin. The oil base makes your face feel hydrated and it removes even the heaviest smokey eye make up in one gentle sweep – trust me that’s quite a feat considering the double dose of mascara I like to wear. If this is a little out of your price range Johnson’s Baby Oil is a great alternative for eye make up removal.
Best New Scent – Chloe Love
This is my signature scent, it has only taken me 10 years to find but, it is the one. Whiffs of sweets, powder puffs and floral bouquets it is a contradiction of a perfume being thoroughly modern and nostaglic, wrapped in an elegant glass bottle with gold chain top. Described as ” a love letter toall things refined, feminine and radiant – everything essentially Chloé” and obviously me!
Best Nails – Rimmel Lasting Finish
These budget polishes by Rimmel beat the luxe labels hands down when it comes to chip resistant, long lasting colour – take note Chanel! They are also quick to provide the latest fashion in polish colourways so you’ll always have on trend fingers.
Face Fixer – Max Factor Foundation Serum
Another product launch in 2011 was Max Factor’s Ageless Elixir 2 in 1 Foundation and Serum. I love the fruity smell which is a welcome change from the usual chemical scents, plus the serum and SPF 15 makes this foundation beneficial for your skin. It’s easy to use and unlike other brands is not runny making a great day to day cover up.
A close second on the foundation front is Revlon’s Photo Ready Foundation which is great for summer with its luminous, light reflecting finish and SPF 20 protection.
Prepped & Primed – L’Oreal Studio Secrets
A new addition to my make up regime in 2011 has been primer, mainly for occassion wear or long days of meetings where time is precious. L’Oreal Studio Secrets Smoothing Resurfacing Primer is my favourite so far. A teeny weeny amount covers the face, filling small wrinkles as it goes and making skin velvet soft to the touch.
Bijou brides if I’ve missed any of your beauty wonder products, please do share with the group by leaving a comment – it is Christmas after all.
