Are you going to be a beach bride?  Today’s post is a run down of the essentials you need to say ‘I do’ beach style.  But lets kick off with some celebrity inspiration.

celebrity beach brideA destination wedding is all about the natural beauty and needs little elaboration.  Neutral colour palettes and minimal decor ensure the focus is solely on you and the stunning backdrop of your setting.

Both short and long styles will work but the key is to avoid anything with tight sleeves (sweat patches are a no no) as well as thick, stiff fabrics.  Although grecian style, strapless gowns tend to be the most popular with beach destined brides, I personally love the look of macrame lace like this Yolan Cris wedding dress.

As already mentioned accessories should be kept to a minimum, a beautiful dress and a beautiful setting need little more.  Once the sun goes down there can be a slight chill in the air so treat yourself to a beautiful pashmina or wrap to enjoy the sunset minus the shivers.

Footwear – well don’t even attempt to wear heels on the sand, save them for later when you’re back on solid ground and dancing the night away.  If your day is designed to be informal and relaxed then bare feet are the way to go, although you could add a pretty anklet.  But fellow shoe-a-holics like me should invest in some special flat sandals that can be treasured throughout the honeymoon.

Flowers – loose bouquets in green and white tones work with the natural beach setting and I love the use of succulents.

Make Up – it goes without saying that you’ll need waterproof, long lasting everything.  Clarins Fix Make Up is the beauty editor’s secret weapon for serious staying power.

Finally, if you do opt for a veil you should be aware that long cathedral veils are likely to pick up a lot of the beach and sea with them!

Boho tousled waves always look great on the beach bride.  Elle Macpherson is the ultimate inspiration for beachy curls, a look that has become her signature style.  Cheat products such as Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray or Kevin Murphy Beach Texturiser will help you perfect Elle’s look.  Finally accessorise with a scattering of fresh flowers, pearl pins or crystal clips.
