REAL BIJOU BRIDE – CARLY’S ANTIQUE FRENCH STYLE WEDDING

Tuesday January 8 2013.

It is our first Bijou bride of 2013 and one that happens to share my anniversary date to boot!  Carly’s dream of an antique French style Wedding was inspired by her home decor and luckily for us captured by Wedding super snapper Laura Babb (link: http://babbphoto.laurababb.co.uk/).  There are many scrumptious (quite literally) details to show you including this year’s hottest mix and match pastel shade inspiration.

BRIDE

Carly could not find one dress that felt right for both the Church ceremony and dance filled reception so decided to consult a bespoke Wedding dress designer.  Joanne Fleming could see Carly’s vision and designed a clever two in one Wedding dress with a cloud-like tulle overskirt that fixed over a simple lace dress beneath.  “The dress was an absolute dream to wear, the silk tulle overskirt provided the much needed drama for the cathedral ceremony but once removed the french lace underneath could truly be appreciated.”

And here is Carly’s reception look – I honestly wish I’d had a two in one Wedding dress, it is the most fabulous idea.

The mix and match use of pastel shades were reflected in the bride’s choice of footwear.

BRIDESMAIDS

“The bridesmaid dresses were from Anoushka G at House of Fraser and I loved them so much I wish I had bought one for myself! The grecian style suited both the bridesmaids and the nude colour was enhanced by the pearl detailing around the neckline.”

And the younger additions to Carly’s bridesmaid party were decked out in all white ensembles, like chic mini ballerinas.  This little one interpreted the look through dance.

DETAILS

To create the antique French style Wedding today’s bride dreamt of was a real labour of love, that required months of antique shop visits and collecting.  Carly explains how “the soft pastel palette teamed with the crystals and  eclectic mirrored pieces were used to evoke a sense of romanticism and provide a softness to the high beams of the barn.”

In the second ‘disco’ barn at the Farbridge venue Carly draped lilac, blush and white tulle over the beams to keep some continuity with her Wedding colour code.

Flowers were another detail Carly felt strongly about, wanting chosen blooms to provide an injection of colour against the white backdrops.  Luckily Carly found a florist who she describes as nothing short of amazing, Jo McNamara.

Warning for all you January dieting gym bunnies, sweet treats ahead!  Just like me, bride Carly has “a massive sweet tooth so one option would never be enough.”  The medicinal labels are a lovely touch don’t you think?

WORDS OF WISDOM

Over to the lovely Carly for her best piece of advice for you future brides – “Invest in a great photographer, Laura ensured all the details were captured and was great fun to work with.  Plus after the big day is over sitting down to a beautiful wedding album brings it all back to life.”
