It seems I was ahead of trend with my birthday glitter fetish, as over the past week the ladies of the A-List have been rocking some serious sparkle sprinkled gowns.
Fashioning fairy like credentials in dresses with just a splatter of stardust sequins were Michelle Williams in Erdem at a screening of My Week With Marilyn and Amy Adams, who wore a custom Gucci gown to the LACMA Art & Film Gala.
For others life was too short to be airing on the side of caution – Gwyneth Paltrow stole the show in Elie Saab at the German BAMBI awards whilst my fellow gilver lover Rachel Zoe chose zebra patterned sequins for the Museum of Contemporary Art Gala.
Finally there was Glee star Lea Michele at the Glamour Women of the Year awards in Jenny Packham. This is in fact the Willow gown from Jenny Packham’s 2012 bridal collection, so you could choose to wear this exact dress on your wedding day.
Number One – Style it up
Bijou brides if you’re looking to dazzle on your wedding day, keep your hair and make up simple for contemporary edge. Or be an old Hollywood glamourpuss bride, rocking side parted waves with a deep red lip like the lovely Lea Michele above – for maximum effect pair your your Groom in a classic dinner suit with bow tie.
Number Two – On the day
As with any beaded dress avoid any chances of snagging by keeping your dress under wraps until the very last moment and be careful with your choice of jewellery. And practice getting in and out of it with the person who will assist you on the day.
Number Three – Post Wedding
Typical dry cleaning methods can cause beading and sequins to lose their shine, contact a wedding dress specialist and take the dress for an assessment before they get to work.
Some of my current favourite sparkle infused wedding dresses are featured below.
